Anne Grimes Architect is located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Anne is the principal architect and has been a registered architect for over 25 years first in NSW and then in QLD. She is also an experienced owner builder and has taught design, communication and structures at tertiary level. Currently she shares coordination of an online university course in sustainable housing design.
She studied architecture at the University of NSW and has worked in both large and small firms in Sydney, London and Mexico before commencing her own practice in 1995 in the northern beaches of Sydney. The practice moved to Brisbane in 2007.
Residential work has now become the predominant work of the practice. However the practice has experience in multi residential, school design, hospitality, shop fitting, interiors and landscape.
We blend indoor space with the surrounding landscape, use tricks to make a place feel larger (and so conserving precious materials) and harness nature's breezes and sunlight to make comfortable spaces you can enjoy winter or summer.

When I first come to meet you we will talk about your needs, desires and budget for the building. I will then prepare a brief and fee proposal for you.
Research
If you decide to proceed I then gather information about the site which includes existing structures, microclimate and landform. This stage includes measurement and photography and researching regulations and restrictions.
Design
Next comes the schematic design stage where we work together using my experience and skills and your feedback to devise a scheme that satisfies you. I produce drawings so you understand the organisation plan and what it looks like in three dimensions.
Document
Once a design is agreed upon I then work with you to communicate how it will be built utilising engineers, choosing materials, specifying products, getting certification and choosing a builder. Technical drawings and written scope of works are produced at this time.
Construct
To build your dream is exciting but often stressful. I can be there to smooth the process and make sure that the building is built as envisioned. Liaising with the builder, certifier and yourself.

You may want to use me for one, some or all of these above stages but I am also available for consultation if you simply want advice.
